Hi, My machine is running on WinXP I've just install it
into my new PC before I load all the update and security
patch, I.E. was flying. But Since I updated the whole
thing
this became a shame to run on High speed and having a
bomb as a PC and running so slow.

Could you please help me to resolve it. I want High speed
back. it's not a connection issue, I have another PC
running with Win2000 and it is good speed.

Is all the update getting automaticaly aren't that goood
or so good that affect the speed dramaticaly. By the way
I'm using an Alcatel Modem sped touch thru a Linksys
4ports.

Please help me!!!

first turn off windows update and do it manually.
when you do it manually, you select which updates you want to install. i will only update security updates or drivers that would apply to my computer and work environment. if it doesn't apply, then there's no need for them. just go through and read what it's intended use is for and determine if it applies you. Unless your french or german you don't need those language updates. what you can do is do a system restore to a point before you installed all the updates and then install the updates you only need and not all of them.
By default, windows update is turned on and installs all current updates.

First, check for updated drivers or firmware upgrades for the modem and
router.
