XP slow as a snail?

XP home used to run all my software at lightning speed.
Now, just a few months after computer purchase, it also
takes forever to boot!!
What's up?

Out with the bad stuff, and do the good stuff for it. By

this I mean to scan for and remove viruses, worms,
trojans, and spyware from your system. And run disk
cleanup and defragmenter tools a few times every month.
Also reduce the number of programs which start at boot,
(see in "msconfig.exe") Also RAM and or cooling can be
issues as well for performance.
