A friend running XP home edition has suddenly run into problems with
Pegasus Mail program which up to now has run perfectly.(File is locked
message) She is still able to get around the problem but investigation
points to recent MS XP updates which have been installed automatically.

The Control Panel ,Remove/change programs file is full of Hotfixes :
One set of 11 relates to KB 823559
One set of 4 relates to SP1 and Q329170
One set of 2 relates to SP1 and Q308387
One set to AVG Square SP1 and Q329048
And one to AVG Square SP2 and 329115

Having read the above MS references I am not exactly sure about the best
way to sort this out---
This lady spends very little time browsing and uses mainly email so
considering her vulnerability--
Should one uninstall the hotfixs and go back to square one or do we
install the service pack 2 which I have on disk--providing of course
that her laptop has the necessary space etc .
Your kind assistance please,Richard

If it happened suddenly , has she tried doing a system restore ? That
will usually solve the problem unless something else happened .
( System restore to the day before the problem happened .)

Thanks--Lady is not sure when exactly it all happened, but I will see if
that will help--

Hi there---Have just checked with the lady--She has tried the restore
bit but no help.
What about doing a "repair"installation ?
