Okay, so I downloaded it, installed it, and now my computer is in a boot
loop...anyone else have this problem?

I'm sure others have, many of us test beta software here, just format and
reload, then restore your data from your backup, you have to expect such
things when running beta software.

Actually, if you just run the repair option in setup it takes care of it.

Why try out a RC software when the official version is supposed to be
release by end of this month (last I seen a possible release date?)

You got lucky. Now you get to find out what the NEXT problem with be
when using betaware.

Okay, so I downloaded it,

What you installed was a pre-release or beta version of SP3. SP3 isn't
out yet.

When you install any prerelease or beta software, problems are what
you should *expect* In my view, unless you have a spare,
non-production, computer to run it on, *and* you are the kind of
person who enjoys playing with such things and doesn't mind
reinstalling it if the whole machine dies, it's foolhardy to install a
beta version of an operating system or a service pack.

That goes double with XP SP3, since the release version is expected
out within the next few weeks.
