XP Search Returns No Results Everytime

I'm having a very frustrating problem.

Anytime I try to use the search function in XP, it never returns any
results, no matter what I'm looking for, no matter how I search for it. I've
turned Indexing on and off and it won't work either way.

I can't search files on my computer or on our network. Something got screwed
up after the manual uninstall of McAfee (since the darn thing wouldn't
uninstall through add/remove progs).

I'm not sure what got removed and what needs to be put back in place, but if
anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it!

Why doesn't Search work?
 
Thanks, but no luck. Reinstalling srchasst.inf does not solve the problem.

I never get any errors at all, just never finds any results, and goes WAY
too quick to actually be searching anything.

Replace the functionality of "Search" with "Agent Ransack." Much faster and
more versatile.
