I just bought my machine and set up a menu for the
family. I set up each user to have the same screen
saver. I downloaded the 3D American Flag from Microsoft's
site. The problem is that from the menu the computer
loads the standard XP screen saver and not the American
Flag. Any idea why?

Thanks for your help.

The advantage of multiple users is that everyone can have a different screen
saver. The disadvantage is that, if nobody is logged on, it will just use
the default one. You can, however, change the default one, but it will
require a registry edit. Be *very* careful when you do this, because changes
to the registry are immediate and may cause your computer to stop booting!
That being said, go to start - run - regedit. (You must be on an
administrator account to do this.) Then, browse to
HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop and look for the SCRNSAVE.EXE key
in the right hand side. Replace this value with the file name of the screen
saver you want to use. If you don't know what the file name is, you can look
at what you have selected by going to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control
Panel\Desktop and looking at what you have selected there, and then copying
and pasting it to the other location.

It would be easier for a novice to do this...
