XP restarts when browsing

I have a Compaq Presario 2800T with XP Home; I use IE 6
to browse. Several weeks ago, I started encountering an
occassional problem. Sometimes when browsing--I have a
cable modem--the computer spntaneously restarts.

The blue screen error is: STOP: 0X0000008E.

I searched the knowledge base but couldn't find anything
applicable. Can anyone help?

What changes did you make several weeks ago? Any strange websites
visited around then? Receive any interesting email?

Possible malware. Do you have up to date virus protection? There is
one virus which I have read will make your system restart.

Try Spybot S&D and HijackThis. You'll need expert involvement to
interpret the HijackThis output. Start with this article:
