XP Remote Desktop

Ron Sparks

I am trying to set up remote desktop from home to the office, so I can work
from home. I have a linksys wireless router at both ends. I have opened
ports 3389 on both routers. I disabled the firewall on both routers, and
firewall on the xp computers. I am getting an error that client could not
connect to the remote computer.

I have cable modem at both ends. I have never set up remote desktop before,
and I am not sure what I am missing.

Does anyone know how to set it up?

Thank you for your help in advance!

Did you enable "Allow user to connect remotely to this computer" under
System Properties in the Control Panel of the computer you are trying to
connect to?

Did you install "Remote Desktop Assistance" in the Add/Remove
Programs>Add/Remove Windows Components>Internet Information
Services(IIS)>World Wide Web Services on the computer your are trying to
connect to?

Also did you port forward the IP address on the router at work for the
computer you are connecting to?

You can email me at bcrawfordjr(remove)@homail.com if you need more
assistance. I use this all the time and have no problems.

Remember remove the (remove) in the email.
