I've tried to repair my Xp from the CD, but when it comes
to the page after the licensing agreement, what is
supposed to be showing in the box to show my current
installation of XP? All I see, is Unknown: C/ and it
should be showing in that space. There is no option to
press R to repair the current XP program. Does that mean
my Windows XP is not on my computer any more? Please help.

Do you have a retail version of XP or a version of XP supplied with your
computer by the PC manufacturer. If the latter, such CDs don't have all the
utilities and options of the retail version, hence you would have to run
your manufacturer's recommended recovery procedure. NOTE: such procedures
usually wipe the drive and set the system back to the condition it was in
when you first purchased it.

This can happen if you compressed your drive at anytime. However can you
tell us what problems where occurring that prompted you to want to run a
Repair Install?

If you have data on the drive that you didn't backup and need to access you
might have to get professional help to get the data off the drive.
