I recently purchased a new Dell with Xp installed...I
registered the product. I also have a laptop that is
running Windows 98, and I needed to upgrade to install a
printer...I put XP on that computer (also a Dell) Now I
need to register my XP.....will that drop my destop
version of XP.....Am I allowed to register more than 1
copy of XP???? On both a laptop and home computer?????
HELP the version expires in 20 days and I need my laptop

Registration is not the issue, activation is the issue and you can only
activate on one system. Since it was already activated it won't activate on
the laptop and in 30 days it will cease to function and lock you out. The
license is for one computer only, further, the copy that came with the Dell
is an OEM version, it is tied to the original hardware.

Generally speaking.. unless you have Multiply User
License for XP.. you should not load to another computer
due to Piracy Protections.. if you choose to load XP
from "back up" disk that came with your new PC to upgrade
your old, you SHOULD be able to do so... choose the most
generic register allowed, just rememeber if you have
problems with XP & you're illegally using you Could get
into trouble.

You can only register and run XP on one computer. For the Laptop, you will
need to purchase the XP Upgrade Version [about $100].
