Can Somebody PLEASSSE tell me what the GD Administrator Code for the Recovery
Console is supposed to be?! I can not find it ANYWHERE in Knowledge Base and
pressing 'ENTER' just states "Wrong Password". I have Re-Formated and
Installed SO MANY TIMES over the years, because I don't know that GD SECRET
(evidentally) Password. Is there a special club you have to be a member of
like the Luminate or something? Sorry for the 'language', but I am at the
peak of my frustration on this on. If anyone can answer this query, please
e-mail : (e-mail address removed) Thanks

It is the password of the built in administrator account. If you don't know the
password for the built in administrator account and you can logon as another
account that is in the local administrators group you can use the command net
user administrator newpassword to change the password for it. Also see the link
below that shows a registry mod that can be done to allow autologon to RC though
you would not want to leave that enabled all the time as it would give anybody
who knows how to use RC administrator access to your computer. --- Steve

On many XP installations you can't start the Recovery Console because it won't
recognize your password. This registry edit causes the Recovery Console not to
ask for a password. This works for both XP Home and XP Professional.

Start | Run | Regedit
Navigate to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Setup\RecoveryCon
sole
Set the DWORD SecurityLevel value to 1
Exit Registry and Reboot
