Whenever I am downloading something when I click on a ftp
link XP reboots. I have up-to-date virus definitions and
appear to be clear of any viruses... and regularly use
Adaware for spyware.. I can download anything
otherwise... just not from ftp sites.
If anyone can point me in the right direction as to what
the problem maybe I would be so grateful

Open Control Panel - System - Advanced and click on the Settings
button in Startup and Recovery (bottom) section.

In the Startup and Recovery window click on the checkbox for
"Automatically restart" to clear it.

Click on Apply and OK as needed to exit.

This should put an end to the restarts. However they may be replaced
by "Blue Screen Of Death" STOP errors and the system may then lock up,
requiring a manual power off and restart.

However if that does happen then the contents of the STOP error will
be a direct clue as to the underlying cause of the problem. Post the
information from the STOP errors, including all of the parameter
codes, back here if you need further advice or assistance with
resolving these.

Good luck
