I recently recieved a warning after restarting my
computer that said my computer had changed substantually
and that I would have to reactivate WINXP. So I entered
my product code again. They came back and told me I would
have to purchase a new license. I don't think this is
fair. It's true my computer has changed, but the reason
for the change was that my video and sound cards would
not work with WINXP.I think Microsoft should be more
concerned with customer satisfaction than with someone
trying to cheat them out of something.

Try calling Microsoft. They're generally pretty
liberal about reactivations. I don't have the exact
number, but if you call 800-426-9400, they can
probably transfer you or tell you the number to call.

Bob;
This is not good information.
The activation screen will give the option to Activate by phone and
the appropriate toll free number will be displayed.

I recently installed XP Home on a 2nd machine (after uninstalling if from
another PC and putting XP Pro on it) I was shocked that there was absolutely
NO trouble from Microsoft on the issue! I agree with the others posting
here --- give it a shot!

( Note: I chose the automated telephone "installing option" during
installation --- and it walked me through everything with no problems at
all.)

For what it's worth ...
