I have an XP PC that has failed, It will not boot in either normal or safe mode.

I have tried a restore form the OEM CD that came with the machine but it fails becuse it can't find the original Windows instalation. Full hardware diagnostics run and disk is OK.

Understand it might be a bootcfg problem, but can't get to that command.

Anyone any ideas?
Thanks, A

I got an Idea, use a boot disk to get to CD-ROM and reformat your hard drive and start over....

Thanks, sounds a bit drastic.

I think I might just get a new disk and install XP on that. Then plug the current one in as No 2 and recover 'my documents' and keep the OS and data separate from now

Cheers,
