XP Professional won't take product code

I can't get the product key into the system. Everytime I
typr it in it only gets through a few characters before
it goes back to the what do you want to do screen.

Sounds like you might be pressing the Enter key before you have
finished entering the value.

There are 5 boxes for entering the product key and each one holds a 5
character segment of the product key.

When you are entering the product key it should progress automatically
from one box to the next each time you complete a 5 character key
segment.

If you want to move from one box to another manually use the Tab key
on the keyboard.

Note: You may also have a bad keyboard that is sending garbled data
to the computer, thereby causing problems with the data entry.
