error: Blue screen
always have to use "Last known good config"

I have both XP Home and Pro installed. My resolution to get pass the blue
screen of death is to load the XP Home edition. No problems. It is moving
a little slower than before. After I shut it down, then I load XP Pro and
select "Last known good config". XP Pro starts up.

I would hate to do a new install of XP. I attempted to just run the XP Pro
install to do the repair but received a --upgrade error message---..

Do anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,
T.

Taishi,
I'm not sure I understand your question. However, using the Last Known Good
means that the last good configuration which was written to the
CloneControlSet had to be used; whereas the other was loaded into
FailedControlSet in the registry.

You'd probably do well to simpy run an in-place upgrade, which is actually
laying down the bits again (and requiring you to re-install the service
packs and hot-fixes). So, boot into the OS, load the CD and choose upgrade
from the splash screen drop-down menu. Once that's complete, install the
services packs, etc.
