I read through the other activation questions in this
Newsgroup and none addressed my question.
I originally purchased Windows XP Professional and
installed it on a laptop. This laptop has since been
decommissioned (seriously outdated). I then installed the
same OS from the same disk on my desktop and it activated
it with no questions. From everything I've heard, that's
a surprise. I thought I would have to call a number and
get a new activation key.
Because of this seamless multi-computer install of the
same OS I have this question. The CD sticker w/the
product key on it has this as a description:
"Windows XP Professional 1-2CPU OEM Product"
Does this mean that I can install this on to systems (a
two CPU license?) If so, then I have another PC that I
just built that I would like to install it on. That would
make 3 separate installs of the same OS. Will I need to
get a new activation key at that point?
I just don't really know what to expect or what my
install limits are. Any help would be great. Thanks.
