I recently purchased a machine with XP Home edition. Shortly after setting
it up it began to experience problems some of which may not be related to one
another.
1) I can no longer boot without my XP CD in the drive. I've tried a fixmbr
and fixboot neither of which helped.
2) It looks as though I was infected with the VBS.Gaggle.e@mm virus. I
can't get to the registry to clean out the bad keys because "regedit" and
"regedt32" do not work. Error: Registry editing has been disabled by your
administrator. Mine is the only account other than .NET Account and my
account has administrator rights from what I can see.
Can anyone help with either or both of these problems?
