On a friend's computer using XP, I am attempting to install free AVG 9, but
get a message that 24 files named S3GSetup are "identified as potentially
incompatible software - recommended to uninstall". If I choose uninstall I
am offered the "Add or remove programs" screen, listing all programs - but I
can't identify which program contains these files.
A search (including hidden files) finds 4 files name S3Gnb, 2 in
Windows\software Distribution\Download\9866fb57abdc0ea2f5d4e132d055ba4e, and
2 in c:\Windows\Driver Cache\i386\sp2.cab.
A search of the registry finds S3GSetup as Data associated with
"ProductName" - but I don't feel competent to experiment with the registry.
Suggestions gratefully received.

Sorry - Should have held on this. I've found lots of comments which useful
on the avg forum which address this issue. I am clearly not alone!

See AVG9 free forum - there is an article on that issue.

Hi I have 2 laptops with XP SP2 and when I inatalled the AVG 9
after
getting constant messages,1st they became very slow and also the
blue
screen of death kept appearing/shutting down/restarting/error
report
etc.
I have since removed AVG and I am waiting for AVG to respond
since they
wanted feed back from me!
