Hi, I'm using XP Home edition. I've installed EMF
(encrypted magic folders) but after that, Norton and some
applications cannot be loaded at startup. I'm not able to
run or uninstall EMF and any other application either,
also shutdown and System Restore. I've connected with
another PC, scanned for viruses(clean), runned MSConfig
and disabled some startup options but didnt work. What can
I do? Please help.

what's the magic? You may have to do a clean install.
A quick Google for "encrypted magic folders" found several
listings...

Do you remember the password you set when you installed this
EMF?

Do a Google and find the company or author and ask if they
left any backdoors.

Jim, thanks for your concern.
EMF is an application for encrypting files and folders. It
works without a problem on Windows98 and Windows2000. I do
remember the password but cannot run the programme. I'm
not sure EMF caused the problem, but everything happened
after the installation.

I've found the article above, maybe this could help, I'll
try or clean install.

There's a problem with Norton's Personal Firewall
2003 /Internet Security 2003 that conflicts with Magic
Folders and can cause boot problems and other messes.
Instead of releasing the fix (which they've had for almost
nine months) for free they decided to wait and put it in
their 2004 release. If you don't want to upgrade Norton to
the 2004 version then you'll need to either uninstall
Personal Firewall 2003 or Magic Folders. If you're having
troubles completely uninstalling Personal Firewall (we
did) then -click here-. Actually, just deleting
\windows\system32\drivers\symtdi.sys should let Magic
Folders run fine.
