XP Pro with embedded extensions

Hi,

Does anyone know anything about XP pro with Embedded Extensions (might also
be known as XP Pro ER)? I can't find any info on the MS site.

Windows XP Professional with Embedded Restrictions
is a normal XP Prof, but from the Embedded channel.
It's the full version, you can install it from any CD.
The Embedded OEM licensing are COAs (sticker) only.
For Embedded OEMs, there is the OPK (OEM Preinstallation
Kit) available. Contact your local Miucrosoft Embedded Distributor.

You will need to have a Microsoft Customer License Agreement (CLA) in place
before you can get this OPK. Another note is that the OEM is responsible to
create and distribute the system restore disk. You do not get a hologram
Microsoft XP CD to send out with each system. You create this and supply
this yourself. Microsoft has great documentation on how to do this. This is
a benefit because the OEM can make this their own and provide more benefit
to their customers and not reply on Microsoft as much.

There is no such thing as XP pro with Embedded Extensions. Either you get
Windows XP Professional with Embedded Restrictions, which means no EEFs, or
use Windows XP Embedded.

is the WPA also included in the XP Pro with ER ? For our instrumentation
systems the activation process is very annoying. In some gauges we can use
XPe, but all gauges need a master which is running XP Pro now. In many cases
there must be installed customer applications and that would need a
max-config of XPe to avoid any trouble.

Yes WPA is included in the Xp Pro ER.
You can get rid of it when you buy 1'000 licenses.
Then, you will get SLP (System Lockup Preinstallation)
like the big direct OEMs.

Contact your Embedded Distributor for more details.

We buy already Win CE Licenses from avnet, so I hope our german distributor
knows this product.
