I want to activate 'Use the Welcome Screen and Use Fast
switching" in the Logon/Logoff section of Control Panel,
User Accounts, but It grayed out. I get the following
error message 'A recently installed program has
disabled 'the welcome screen and fast user switching'. To
restoer these features you must ununstall this
program. The following filename may help you identify the
program that made the change: NetGina.dll'. I unistall
several programs to no avail. I went into 'safe mode' and
deleted 'NetGina.dll', only to have XP not boot. I
put 'NetGina.dll' bac under /Windows/system32 directory
and now it boots up, but I still get the same error
message when tring to activate 'the welcom screen and
fast user switching'. What should I do??

This is not a Windows file. It was likely placed on your system by some
spyware or possibly a virus. Make sure you have the latest definitions and
run a scan using your antivirus software.

Also, download, install and run Ad Aware:

Did you install client for netware for your networking needs? That's probably
what's causing the netgina.dll error that you're seeing. Do a repair install or
use the XP cd to get into the recovery console, and use it to replace the
deleted file. However, I must let you know that the recovery console will not be
able to do so if you have not set the options for the recovery console to access
all directories and files in the local security policy in XP Pro.
