XP Pro user profiles

Greetings -

I have a standalone XP Pro system that my kids log into and I log into. I
would like to setup some security aside from just having them be LIMITED
accounts.
Example: When the right click on the desktop or taskbar, they can't change
anything. Or other settings like opening Windows Explorer... etc.

Where can I do this so the settings are applied to just the kids logon and
not my own. I have myself setup as ADMINISTRATOR.

Since you have XP Pro, you can set very fine-grained user permissions
with the Group Policy Editor (Start>Run>gpedit.msc). Be careful using
gpedit; it is completely possible to lock *yourself* out.

No you can't. GP applies to every user on Workstation. Only in a domain is GP finely grained. File permissions are, Local Security Policy is, but not GP.
 
I am aware of that util, and that is exactly what I am trying to avoid. I
need to set policies for just the specific users - my kids - that I do not
want to apply to myself as ADMIN...
Anything else out there that is capable of doing this?

How to apply local policies to all users except administrators in a
workgroup setting in Windows 2000 (works for XP, too)

But if Group Policy is too tricksy, then do as another poster suggested
and use the Shared Computer Toolkit.

Read the Handbook several times, because there are things you can do
that will realy cause you problems. These are well noted in the
Handbook.
