My COMPAQ PC running XP Pro has crashed. I attempted to
reinstall/repair XP by reinstaling my upgrade CD. I have
been asked to input any Windows (95-98-ME-XP) full
version into the PC so that Windows can see that I am
entitled to reinstall my XP Pro program. When I
purchased this COMPAQ it was embedded with Windows ME and
I purchased the upgrade XP Pro, so I do not have an
original CD of Windows software. How can I get over this
problem ? The COMPAQ is not my main PC but I always use
it for digital photograph/writing reports etc.

get a copy of the 'COMPAQ PC WindowsME Recovery CD' from COMPAQ

new running systems come with a 'recovery cd.' these recovery cd's include a 'full' oem.

you would use/borrow this full license as a short test - from microsoft upgrade - that you have access
to a full version. the full license key is not recorded by Microsoft Activation or Registration.
only the 'XP Pro Upgrade' is Activated and may be Registard.

get a copy of the 'COMPAQ PC WindowsME Recovery CD' from COMPAQ. the Recovery CD only works for COMPAQ Hardware

if you choose to repair the XP Pro Upgrade instead of formating all of the old WindowsME Partistion's..
