can anyone email us a cure? (e-mail address removed)

our system, running xp pro, shuts down and reboots by
itself. we see that apparantly this is common with some
oem and retail versions that came out with a bug?

sometimes it will stay on for hours, other times it will
reboot constantly for a few minutes.

we: tried the recovery console, disabling auto-restart,
defragged, etc. we even wiped the computer clean and put
a full install back in. nothing worked.

we did read several comments from other via yahoo search
that other users were going back to windows 98.

any and all help appreciated!!!

thank you.

I have also been having this problem, however, it has been happening only rarely. Today, I just downloaded the latest win updates and can not get winXP to boot. It tries to boot and goes into a restart loop (restarting over and over again). I shut the box down and did a full reboot and had the BIOS setup pop up say that I was in save mode and that my last boot up attempt failed because my CPU speed didn't match. The BIOS opened up to my CPU speed which shows 866, which is the correct setting. Would appriciate any HELP!!!!!!!!

Open Control Panel - System - Advanced and click on the Settings
button in the Startup and Recovery (bottom) section.

In the Startup and Recovery window click on the checkbox for
Automatically Restart to clear it.

Click on Apply and OK as needed to exit.

This will stop the automatic reboots. However they may be replaced by
Blue Screen Of Death STOP error messages. However in that case the
information from the STOP message will be a direct clue as to the
underlying cause of the problem.

Post the information from the STOP messages back to this newsgroup if
you need further advice or assistance with those.

Good luck
