No.

What's the problem...
someone here will probably be able to adivse you on how to perform a repair

I get intermittent error messages that I usally do not see again.
But, I wonder why?
I was thinking that there may be some files corrupted or missing.
I would like to check windows for missing or corrupted files.
Without out reinstalling windows or all the programs.

Thanks
Steve

You could start with a RAM test

http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp

Also, try to post back with the exact tetx of the error messages

You can check for corrupted system file by using WinXP's built-in
System File Checker. Start > Run > SFC /SCANNOW.

What specific error messages do you get? What do your system event logs
report? What specific troubleshooting steps have you already taken, and
what were the results of each? Have you contacted the administrator of
the web site to determine if any specific plug-ins and/or security
settings are required?

I'm afraid no one can help if you don't provide at least a modicum
of pertinent information.

Help us help you:

Hi steve,
Can you please post the error messages you will gather from the event viewer
per the instructions given below and are there any new hardware/software
installed recently?.
What your protection software arrangement?.

Open a Notepad, customize or minimize to the taskbar as you will need it
later for this step to copy the error message on it.
Open a run command and type in:
eventvwr.msc click [OK] you will get the Event viewer control Panel.
click on each of these:
Application
System
Security
Look in the right Pane/window for error message with red (X) or Yellow
exclamation mark /!\ , double click each one to get more info about the
causer.
On the Event error properties message you will see:
Up Arrow
Down arrow
Two pages
Click on the two pages to copy the error message then bring up the Notepad
you opened earlier and right click on the first line and select Paste from
the list, this will paste the error message on a Notepad.
Please don't duplicate the error message one of each kind will be sufficient.

Please we need just the error messages with Red (X) and don't repeat the
error, just one of each kind and post them back in your next post.

Hi Bruce,

Thanks for the answer.
I have not done any of the things you mention, so I can give you any answers.
It appears I need to do a lot work first.
Oh, this is a home computer.

Thanks again,
Steve

Hi Nass,
Sorry, I can give you any messages because I did not save them.
And this time frame has been over a long period of time, about 4 months.

I will have to start keeping track of the messages and make a log of them.
That will be my future project.

Thanks for the advice, I needed that, I was kind of lost.

Thanks again,
Steve

Thanks for your help.
I will need to do some work on my side.
I do not have any information now to get the help I need.

Thank,
Steve

If you want help, you need to tell us the exact verbatim text of the
error messages.

I was thinking that there may be some files corrupted or missing.

Although that's possible, it's unlikely that that's the problem.
Again, please tell us the exact verbatim text of the error messages.

Steve,
If you open the Event Viewer you will see all the History for the Error and
Success Logging events for your machine.
So, follow the steps i given to you and Open the Event Viewer and copy
&paste the error on Notepad then post them in your next post.
Good luck.
