Allright here is what i am trying to do.

I have an XP Pro machine with a roaming profile.

I want to know where it saves in the profile what the background is.

I want to be able to change the background to a network location from the
file server holding the profile.

I don't want to have to log into either the server holding the profile, or
the workstation to change the background.

I just want to know where (application data?, local settings?) the
background location will be stored.

I know it is in the desktop.htt file, however this is simply a record of
what is set by the gui, windows does not reference this when starting for
where to pull the background from.

And I know it is in the registry also, however... It has to be possible to
change it in plain text somewhere in the "documents and settings\username"
folder.

Thanks now for any suggestions.

Well here is what i found out...

it is located in ntuser.dat.

This is just a portable compacted form of the regustry key Hkey_Users (or
something like that)

If you wnat to know more, do a google search for "load 'ntuser.dat' hive"

Good luck.
