I am trying to help a friend currently running a XP Pro peer to peer
networking, the system were setup by someone else many years ago but now
they cant find the guy anymore, so I step in to help with some of the
problems they are having.
They store their PST on the XP pro machine, 6 users, each PST between 300MB
to 1.2GB, sometime one user (same user) cant access her PST, but after a few
hours (with no other users logging off the system) her email magically works
again, but this can be random, I am wondering of XP Pro has the same user
count limit as 2000 (10 concurrent) ?
I am in middle of planning to upgrade the whole network to SBS2003, but need
time to work out how their files are store first and what apps they use, its
a mess, some files are stored on the XP Pro, some on workstations, and using
Vice Versa to sync the data to the XP Pro PC, why ? I dont have a clue
But in the meantime, I suspect XP Pro should support the number of users,
except for the PST, most files are pretty small (DOC/XLS), the LAN are on
100Mbps with 1 station using ethernet-over-power adapters on 85Mbps (this
user dont have connection issues)
Thanks for any help
