Got a friend who has a password to log into XP Pro, they have forgotten the password!
Any way to get into it & either change it or not have it protected.
Thought of safe mode that appears not to be able to clear it?

It's a Dell, so which "F" button to press to get into safe mode??

Any ideas?

Cheers in advance folks.

F8 0r F9...Not that thats going to help..You'll still need the password to enter in Safe Mode...There are other ways around the password, but i'm not sure to post them here..If Mods/Admin read this and don't mind me telling you how in a PM, then I could PM you how to..But as this site is open to the public, I can't really post here, or we'll have a speight of laptops/pc's going mising and passwords cracked...

Think my friend is taking it back to the pc shop he bought it from!

Probably a better idea...If I PM you on how to crack paswwords, I might end up getting myself banned...Although the process I use was given to me by Microsoft

I can not see that the method described here is illegal so I posted the link.

It also gives details of how to use a Password Reset Disc along with a link to microsoft support pages giving details.

My friend gave up & has taken it to a local pc shop to sort it out.
The fact we are 300 miles apart meant i could not go & fix it!

I'd agree with that...I can't see anything illegal with that either..Tat is the same method I was going to post...What I was getting at was any Tom, Dick or Harry that might have erm got a laptop or PC of the back of a lorry could use that method to crack passwords...Thats where the illegal bit comes in..But there again, they could read it anywhere on the net themselves...
