Hi,
I have tried to update the OEM license key on image using a XP SP2b
key with the new SP2c key.
The update seemed to go fine till I was asked to reboot.
Now windows says it needs to be activated. If I try to do this I get
complaints about no network connection even when I got it. Since the
activation over the Internet fails I try to activate via a telephone.
This also seems to work ok, but when I try to login windows says that
I need to activate (again). If I try to do this I am told that my
installation is already activated?!? This creates a deadlock with no
chance to login at all.
I gave up and recreated my images using the OPK kit and a SP2c product
key! But now I can't even run the Windows Key Update Tool?! The
product updater fails with error 0x800402c9. And complains about lack
of disk space? I have 37 GB free on my disk. Been trying on different
disks and have run chkdsk etc.
Has anyone encountered this problem with the new SP2c keys and know a
way to change the key successfully.
Thank you for your help.
Gustaf
