I created a DFS root and published the share in the AD at the AD root. Some
of my XP Pro systems cannot see that share regardless.
I saw a post that said the AD icon had been removed by MS for security
purposes from XP and a work around to get it back, but that isn't a good
answer for me.
How do I make things simple for my end users. the are accustomed to
\\server\share type of locations for finding things.
I thought creating a DFS root and making a central directory to traverse for
all our important shares would make sense since they are spread all over,
and I could also replicate real important things.
The AD and DFS allows for this but it does not seem to work universally, and
I cannot find a pattern.
To all of you gurus out there, tell me how you integrate the ad and
published shares into your environment.
My goal is to eventually convince Mgmt. that this is a great idea, and get
the funding to move up to 2003 sbs with sharepoint so we can check in check
out like we do for sourcesafe.
TIA (post only replies please)
