XP Pro not detecting CD-ROM and CD-RW drives

XP Pro is not dececting my CD-ROM and CD-RW drives. They are picked up by the BIOS upon set up but when Windows XP is fully loaded niether of them are being detected. Not even in the device monitar are they listed.

any help would be great!

i had the same problem when i installed xp i had to disconnect the hardware start the pc then shut it down and reconnect hardware and then it recognised it
