Trying to talk to server.
Router OK. Can get to internet. Can ping router. Cannot
ping self (192.168.x.x or 127.0.0.1).
Netdiag and netsh indicater network card and/or software
problem. "ipstack failure"
Have tried to rebuild stack. Same errors.

Gateway says card OK since I can get to internet. That
seems to be a cop out since I cannot get to server and
cannot ping own card!

Any sure test or correction? Cannot rebuild TCP/IP -
grayed out.

Does "ipconfig /renew" work OK?

Not being able to ping self is usually a firewall.

release/renew works. If firewall, what/where/how? XP or
NAV? What about the errors? Defective card indicators?

Thanks!

You have NAV? Try uninstalling it till you get things working.

How about if I just disable it?

I am beginning to think I have a "lemon" copy of XP. I
cannot do a system state backup. My NIC card only partly
works. Other problems keep popping up like not being able
to access file/folder properties...........WHERE DO I
START???? Reload? Shoot it!!!!!!!

From a command prompt, run chkdsk /F. It will run on the next boot and
fix problems (/F switch) if it can.
Look at the report in event manager if you miss it on the screen. Run
disk cleanup. Defrag. My suspicion is a failing or corrupted HD.

Q

Ran chkdsk, sfc, defrag not needed - recently done. No
change.

Shadow copy error now keeping system state backup from
running. What next????
