I have a 4 pc network connected to a Allied Telesyn ADSL
Router. Everthing was working well but today one machine
refuses to see the network. I can ping the ip address
from all the other machines and ping the other machines
from this one but if I try to look at the workgroup
computers it tells me I don't have access. I can see this
machine in the workgroup list grom the other machines and
open the shared directories. I've tried the Trouble
shooter and only get

AP GTS reports an Error
Possible invalid data received
Errors Occurred in This Context

Any help will be gratefully recieved.

what do you get when using net view \\hostname command form other computer?

Never seen that command but thank you. I'll try it.

It let me "see" all the shares (if that's the right word -
the shared printer, drives and directories) on the
target machine.

But I think think I found the answer uninstalled McAffee
Personal firewall and it's back to normal. Strange,
becuase it's working perfectly on one of the other
machines so I must be setting it up right. Maybe it
didn't like coexisting with NAV?

Thank's for your help.

Rob

thank you for the feedback. You should not use firewall on the LAN
connection.
