After mapping network drives in XP, they work for a
while, then sporadically when trying to access I receive
this error:

" The local device name is already in use. The
connection has not been restored."

Re-booting the machines will remap the drives, but
obviousy this is not the solution. Any Ideas????

Okay this could be lengthy...

First of all, bonour Rick; basically I done a quick search and confirmed
something that I thought could solve this possibly, you should try changing
the drive letter of the drive with the problem.

If you want to fiddle about and try changing more than the one letter then
just follow the same procedure....

Go to control panel, click on 'administrative tools and options' or
something similiar dependant on if you have SP1 installed. GO to 'computer
management (local)' and on the right hand side you should see a wee icon
called 'storage', above it will be 'system tools' and below it 'services and
applications'

Double click on 'storage' ,then double click on 'disk management'

Select the drive you want to change the letter of, then change it by right
clicking it and selecting 'change drive letter or path', then change the
drive letter and restart.

If that doesn't solve it just post here i'll see if there's anythin else
that comes to mind.

Ta,

MeEe
