ping'n 127.0.0.1; that is basically just a ping of your
local adapter that doesn't check the whole stack. if that
works, then I would check you current configuation
with "ipconfig /all" to verify what your local adapters
think their IP addresses are... then try pinging them.
This may not solve the problem but it will tell you more
