during xp pro install I got a message saying that the
printer pack did not install. It also gave a bogus
website to check and a phone # to pay for Windows tech
support. Anyone experienced this and know how to fix
it. I'm having trouble installing a HP printer and after
dealing with the highest level person at HP support, we
are stumped.... thanks in advance

It would help to know the model of your HP printer and also some idea about
problem and the troubleshooting process you've tried already.

its a hp 6600 series. Nothing fancy. I can't help from
feeling its due to the installation error about the
printer pack though.

And you've tried reinstalling the printer pack I imagine? Have tried
uninstalling the printer completely and then running System Restore to get
back to a point prior to your first install attempt?

Have you tried these drivers
http://members.driverguide.com/driver/detail.php?action=download&driverid=21396
Just enter the words "drivers" and "all" for the username and password at
the driversguide site and it will take you to a download for HP 6600 drivers
for XP . It's a generic password that everyone uses.
