I have been trying to install XP Pro and each time it
tells me it's blocked due to an installation of Sqlserver
7.0. The problem is that this machine doesn't have
SqlServer 7.0 on it and never has. I have deinstalled all
the other sql client tools even going as far as removing
all folders with SQL in their name and registry entries
referencing SQLserver. During the installtion, is there a
way to get around this? I'd like to keep the drive intact
and not have to reinstall all the other software.

Thanks

Hi Derik,

The issue may be caused by some other application installed some components
of the SQL server 7.0. Then, the Windows XP thought the system has the SQL
7 installed.

If you have the SQL 7 installation disk, I think we can install the SQL 7
to the system and then remove it from the Add/Remove Programs. This will be
easy and safe to the system.

Then, we can upgrade the Windows XP without the error.

Thanks for using Microsoft News Group!
