XP Pro Hangs During Screen Saver

I'd appreciate help with a weird problem. My systems hangs sometime
after the screen saver activates. If I turn the screen saver off, the
system is fine. When on, the system slowly bogs down and then hangs.

I've tried multiple screen savers, and tried disabling all programs,
but nothing works other than disabling the screen saver.

Any Suggestions?
