Hello,

I am playing with a stress ball now!!!
Firstly: I have (had morelike) windows XP pro installed
on my comp at time of purchase and have the original disc
and Product Key.
After a problem booting windows, and having a system file
error i.e corrupt or missing, I decided to use my
recovery disc from the manufacturer. This worked ok and I
got back into windows.
Problem 1: The user account I had set up has dissapeared.
First I presumed that it has been deleted along with all
the files in the my documents folder, as I can't find any
of them. There was a huge amount of files. I put this
down to experience and decided to keep regular back-ups,
but have since noticed that my hard drive is still nearly
full! It should be verging on empty as I lost practically
everything. Including all the installed programs I had.
I'm a little confused but hopeful that all is not lost,
and any advice on where my files might be would be
greatly appreciated.
Problem 2: (please don't get bored, this is quite a good
one!) OK, after staring windows from the recovery CD and
evrything seeming to be fine again, the first time I shut
down and rebooted I was confronted with the (rememember I
have XP Pro!!) windows activation screen for XP Home
edition. I didn't notice til I put in the Product key and
it told me it was invalid, and unless I had the correct
key I could only shutdown.
I then re-booted from the recovery CD again, going
through the usual stuff like contacting Microsoft for the
new codes and things, (please forgive my vagueness) and
the installation said that it was installing XP pro, fab
right? WRONG!!! I am now back into windows but it's the
Home version again! I'm totally baffled by this. Please
help me, pleeeaaaaase!

Daz,
I'm not sure if I'm missing something here,
but it seems you've been given the wrong recovery disc.
Chek

Contact the supplier of the PC and ask them for an explanation and an XP Pro
recovery disk.

Will do Mark,

I still find it strange though that upon installing, I
get get a 'Installing Windows XP Professional Edition'
Picture come up. I hate it when it's not my fault!!!

Thanks.

If anyone has any idea where my files are please let me
know.
