hi can any one comment on vista 5808 with installation of xp pro with
regards to size of the ram?

OK I think I know what you mean...

XP: minimum RAM is 128MB but runs ideally with 512MB or
more.
Vista 5308: minimum RAM is 512MB but runs ideally with 768MB or more.
Vista Final: minimum RAM is 512MB but runs ideally with 1GB or more.

Not entirely final, but that's a "thereabouts" pointer for you :o)

I've got a machine on 256MB mind you Andre... that runs pretty well still
with a whole load of things disabled... even Glass works just as well as the
AMD dual core in the next room!

But yeh, anything less than 512MB is not at all recommended... unless you're
prepared for a slow computer!

I've heard of some people that were unable to boot their Vista machine with
256MB of RAM and others that were. I'd recommend a minimum of 768MB for
optimal performance, but 1GB+ is better. I'd use 512MB as a minimum.

Yeh I'd agree with that. I've got an AMD Dual Core in the next room with 1GB
of RAM and another with 1.5GB RAM, they both run pretty well but after the
April CTP (Beta 2), performance will be optimised so much better so that
512MB will be "OK" and anything less will be "not so good" :o)

the problems arise when you have it fully loaded with applications...

XP at least gets bogged down if you have too many applications installed.

There were rumors that vista would fix that problem...
I dont see how though....

When the 5808 will be out if at all then I can comment on it. Right now all I can do is comment on the 5308 release
