Hello,

I am trying to solve some printing problems in our home network. I have
a W2K Pro machine with an HP 672c I would like to use as a print
server. My wife has a new laptop with XP.

I have set up the 672c on my W2K machine to be shared, and everything
looks correct. My wife was able to print to it last week, but this week
can't. We've had this flaky performance continually. What can I do to
resolve this?

THanks in advance,
Derek

Thanks for your insulting response. Please re-read my message and
suggest something helpful.

I'd suggest re-reading the article which is for troubleshooting network
printing problems. If you'd like to call Microsoft and pay for support,
please feel free. You appear to have a networking problem, NOT a printing
one.

This might help you finding the cause of your problems:
Install a printer driver on the XP laptop.
Select a local printer, not a networked printer.
Create a new local port, give it the name of the share : \\<W2K machine
name\<printer share name>

When printing, you should first see the job appear in the print queue on he
XP laptop,
next the job is visible in the print queue of the W2k machine.
Finally the printer starts printing.
