The password and domain name has been changed on my home
computer by mistake, which has left me unable to enter
windows. Can anyone tell me if it is possible, without
removing the battery from the motherboard, to reset the
password?
Thanks.

Can you please explain what you did?

Is this a computer from your work, and you removed it from the domain
because you were trying to network it at home? If so, your password will
not work (it actually warns you about this.) It's like locking your keys in
the car-- you have told the system to stop accepting domain logons.

You need to log on with a *local* account, such as the local administrator
account... assuming you know the password for such an account. To add it
back to the domain, you will need to take it to your network
administrator/IT department.

Removing the battery will not help. Usually that's just for resetting the
BIOS password... but you are talking about the Windows logon (at least, I
think so.)
