I have 10gb that XP Pro is on and I need room. I have 2 other partitions on
the disk and 2 on another disk. Can i join the boot drive with another
partition or do i have to reinstall. Can i maybe use one of the other disk
partitions? I suppose there is no easy way of getting more space, i have
a;already got rid of everything i can.
thanks Bruce

You can create additional space by mounting a partition in C:,go to run, type:
diskmgmt.msc In msc,L.click on the partition, action, all, select to mount in
C:,close out.For disk mgmt and creating space in xp try search at microsoft,
type:307889

If your 2 other partitions are to the right of XP, you can delete the
partitions and resize the XP partition. If you want to merge, Partition
Magic 8 will do the job.

Merge partitions in Partition magic is a dangerous procedure. It can and has
deleted all the programs and data in the partition being merged. You would
do better to either clean out the partition you are going to merge or move
the programs you have in the C: drive and using a 3rd party program like
partition magic to make the logical drive bigger.

You don't mention how big your hard drive is but you should consider looking
at your paging file and controlling that somewhat or moving data to a "Data"
drive. That way your data is somewhat protected. There are several ways to
deal with this situation. Go slow and try to make the drive bigger first.

Good luck.

Hi,

I have use PM7 to merge several partition on a 120 gig hard drive to just a
C drive and lost no data when doing that.

Jeff

I'm using v 8.0 and I lost all the data being merged as have others. Be
careful.

I have merged data also with no ill results. But I would strongly advise
you to upgrade to PM8 as PM7 did NOT support a lot of 120 gig drives. I
had PM7 take out a new WD120 when they first came out and it was because
PM7 only supported drives up to 80 gig. You were lucky IMO.

My PM7 implies it only works up to 80Gb? Does this version really
work with120Gb,

Norm

HI,

I was able to do it on a 120 Gig, but I might have just got lucky. I only
did it once on that size and haven`t had the need to do it again.
