Jeff

Environment: Windows XP, DSL pppoe connection using XP
pppoe software rather than ISP software.
Problem: Connection works great for a few weeks then
suddenly stops working, page can't be displayed message.
Information: Pings and traceroutes work, can't browse by
IP address so hosts file is OK, ISP line test shows great
numbers, no spyware installed, NIC is good, even a system
restore will not fix problem. Why do so many XP computers
exhibit this behaviour?

jeff, had same problem.if you are familiar with
www.spybot.com use it but make sure to download
latest updates. there's one for 12-16. if you are not
familiar with it run a search search and follow directions.
It works, been going through this for 3 or 4 nights and
that just fixed it for me. good-luck, milt
