I purchased a computer that originally had Microsoft Millenium for its OS. I
upgraded to XP through a program offered at the Tech School I was attending.
Unfortunately my computer crashed and I was told I needed to reload XP unto
my computer. I don't have the disks to do this with. Since it was loaded
onto my computer legally through my school is there a way to get or save the
OS to reload it to my computer? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Your only hope is to contact your school. If your copy of the OS really
was legal, they are the ones who will be able to re-install it for you.

You would have to contact the school where it was legally loaded onto
your computer. If it was legal, than most likely it was a multiple-seat
version, which license belonged to the school. The bad news of that
is, it may not be legal if you are not still a member or student at that
school. You would have to check with them to see if it is still valid
and whether you can still legally run it.

Check with the school. But my guess is that if you are no longer a
student there, they can't help you legally, and you'll need to buy a
copy.

And then get yourself an imaging program. If you get a Maxtor external
hd it will include program to do this. The physically small unit with
capacities up to 320gb are great and get their power via the usb so you
don't need a power outlet.

Or at least research backing up and the ins & outs of it and choose a
program appropriate for you. Imaging is handy, true, but it's not the
only way to back things up. An external hard drive however will be an
excellent investment for your backups. Wikipedia has a pretty decent
section on backups.

Thank you for your responses. I am not a very technical person, are there
step by step directions to follow? What is the easiest way to accomplish
this? Again, thank you so much for your help!
