XP & Ooutlook behavior

I thought this was an Office issue, but maybe not..
I run OL 2003 at home and work, both upgraded from 2002
In both versions, OL behaves differently in it's drop-down date selection menus. At work, it does what it always did: you drop down the calendar to select the date for a task or appointment, it stays put, and you make your selections.
But at home, unless the mouse button that brought down the calendar is held down, the calendar disappears. If you hold down, you can run the cursor to a date, let go, and it's selected. But you can't change months, and nor other buttons on the drop-down will work
Same program, consistent behavior even after the upgrade. What in XP at home could be going on
Appreciate the help.
