When I installed a new XP Pro SP2 on a new HDD, I didn't add users during the
install process. It started up as Administrator, then I did all the updates
before adding users.

Tried all the choices in the User Accounts app under Control Panel, but I
can't get XP to boot up to a screen where the user names & pictures appear. I
call this the "Select User" screen. I can only get there when I "Log Off"
from the Admin user account.

I installed UITweak but can't find anything that helps. How do I get the
"Select User" screen to appear at startup?

Try booting to xp cd,recovery console, select 1 for C: press enter for
password,
type: Fixboot Agree,type: CHKDSK C: /p Once thru,type:EXIT

Thanks. I found a suggestion in another post, & it worked. I will save this
for the next episode.

Why keep it a secret? Identify the post or tell us the solution.

It's actually called the Welcome Screen. Knowing the correct name often
helps in searches for information.

How did you actually fix it?

Well could you enlighten us so that if in the future someone else might
have the same problem that there will be more people who might be able
to help them? Was the fix something like clicking on Start - Run then
typing 'control userpasswords2' (without the quotes), then clicking the
line that says something to the effect of requiring all users to enter a
password to logon? Or was it something else?
