XP on GW computer reboots rather than turn off

I installed XP on a used Gateway computer.
Model: GP6-450 (P2 450Mhz).
XP does not turn the computer off it re-boot, instead.

I received, already, some much appreciated advise, and checked:
No 'Wake up' in the BIOS.
No CD/DVD in drives.
If I eliminate the 'automatically restart' - I get a blue screen
w/o specifics. So I'm back in 'automatically restart'

However I noticed another "clue" that I ignored so far.
In the last screen, the "Turn off computer "
the "Stand by" button is grayed out.
Only "Turn off" and "Restart" are available.
Does this teaches us anything?
Please advise.

You would get better results if you contacted Gateway.
Gateway and a few other manufacturers use propriatory
OEM versions of XP.

No, they do not. They supply additional drivers for their systems, the
original copies are locked to the BIOS on the system, but they are not
proprietary.

Some companies do ship restore CDs that aren't true Windows installation
discs, but most Gateway and Dell systems do not ship with these (many HPaq
and Toshiba systems do).
 
So Gateway, Dell, HP, Toshiba, etc. all have their own proprietary version
of XP? Do tell more... What is proprietary about them?

Very often "BIOS locked" so they will only install on a computer with
the correct BIOS make and version for that manufacturer.

Very often are "system recovery" CDs that contain only a disk image of
the installed Windows as it was when it left the factory rather than a
genuine installation CD.

Very often have drivers included for hardware components that are
propietary to that particular manufacturer.

Some or all of these characteristics may apply to a given OEM version
from a major manufacturer.

I guess it is semantics. I don't consider those "proprietary versions" just
customized installations of the exact same operating system.

Restore CDs are exactly that and should not be expected to be generic
installation CDs. It would be unreasonable to expect manufacturers to step
the average user through a complete reinstall involving each and every
driver and software app.
