I've done something very stupid. I reinstalled a new copy
of windows xp on my computer. My computer was running a
xp home edition. For some stupid reason, I have decideded
to reinstall the xp on my computer. Some how, I
reinstalled the new xp on the same disk partition, which
caused a big problem. Now, I have a multi copy of xp on
the same disk volume and the xp is not working right any
more. I can not connect to internet, and the computer
games I installed are not working any more. What can I do
now to get myself out of this situation? How to get ride
of multi copy of xp? Please help me ...

Yes, you have done something very stupid. Now that we have that
established, let us address your stup . . . er. . . your problem. You may
as well do a format and clean install, concentrating on installing only one
instance of XP this time. As you are probably aware, you will need to boot
from the XP cd to do this. You will have to set your BIOS to boot from cd.
Good luck.

Hi Ernest,

Are both copies working? If so, boot the one you want to keep, then delete
the system folders for the other installation using Windows Explorer. Then
start/run "C:\boot.ini" and remove the line referencing the unwanted
installation from the [operating systems] section.
